A Song

Here’s a song, Could be long, I can’t borrow from tomorrow. Feel the hand Take away; I just feel sorrow. You were blessed, Not caressed Enough I know. Oh yes, I outlived my stay. If true love ever happens That a man can love A woman; Stressed tested to this day He can’t get away. Forgive his transgressions He will forgive yours Magnanimous That way. Love is in the veins And in the blood.

Cascade

He is a manic sir, You don’t thank him nightly He will come at you brightly’, Like a star; Capacious, Don’t want a fuss, Capricious In his tendency. No one knew  The truth that lay within. He loved He laughed, But not so daft That he could not find A way to begin Again. Not send spend time On him. He beats To his own rhyme. He saw the guns And faced them, Then laced with crime Defaced them.

Soul

A soul, One gift; The power to shift. Can he please humanity Or is it vanity? Insubstantial, Recreational Seeking immortality. With no regard for self, A modern day tragedy Before our eyes. Despise him if you wish, That dish served cold. And the platter Doesn’t matter, As a man grows old.

Struggle

You are in the corner And you can feel the pain, Taste the blood In your mouth And carry on again. So much to lose But more to gain; Unaware Of the crowd Baying for your blood tonight. For their delight. Get off the ropes and fight. Adrenalin subsiding Now only skill remains. You are tiring, Arms feel heavy. Blows to head, One more could leave you dead. You can beat This guy before you; And if you do The world  Can't ignore you Anymore. And who was he? Shame to say  It was only me.

Yellow Dungarees

A man walks into a bar. Hands in pockets, searching for change. It's late, very late. He finds some coins; spills them on the bar. “Give me a double bourbon” He is served. Looking around the dim lit room sees a boy in yellow dungarees. He is pointing a finger at him. “Who you looking at kid?” He wants to look away but can't because some memory, something he forgot draws him back. “Do you know me?” “Oh yes I do”. Said the boy “I am you”.  Slammed down his drink went into the street. Fresh air hit him; But the boy was still there, Standing over the man. Tell me what to do As if he gave a care. You are me, We see this through together.

Noose

We can’t liberate Our feelings. They cascade, Degrade From love To friendship. When breathing Feels like stealing Cooperate. No lip service; It’s a mandate. Rise above. Can’t get pissed While doing this Then it has no meaning. If you do The hangman’s noose Awaits you. Did you leave a last note? Maybe you just Forgot to wrote. You cooked your goose Now it's time to eat it.

Just A Man

He is just a man; But the covenants not broken Even if not spoken. He bares his load. Living by a code He does what he can. And will always Do the same 'till he is taken. He is just a man. The frauds, felons, cheats he met Go into overload. See through them. They are not the winners here They spin their lies. But what do we hold dear? What cannot be overload The truth. He is just a man.

For Your Eyes Only

I hold your hand And feel the fear inside; You never met anyone like me. I am no threat Forever in your debt. You saved me once. I must repay  I watch the sunlight Cascade into an empty room And soon The darkness, it unfolds. I am not a perfect man I know that, But it feels cold, Yes, it feels cold. By candle light I write Into the autumn gloom. I fall asleep, pen in hand. I cannot bend  The rules of time. But you're not here No, you're not here.

The Tramp Sweet

I saw a tramp stagger across the road. So drunk, his feet slurred the tarmac. Made it to the other side. Lay down. Guess he may have died. There was nothing to say Just look on; And the air was sweet Now that he has gone And no soul cried. Who was he? A scientist, doctor? And realising We all become numb Unless we lied.

The Raven

Pretty girl You looked at me No idea what you see Do you see the blame? And the shame I feel? Maybe less than half a man. Never enough, Looking for normality; So I built My own reality. The raven moves His beak so quick Click, click, click; He tears his prey apart. Does he wonder how he got this way? Not so; And nor do I. That night I gave my life to you. You slapped my face I said it’s true, You are what I need. You called me a liar; The only lies I ever told Were to myself, And they grow cold; So the raven comes to feed.

Part Of My Life

It’s part of my life; Cannot be ignored. I saw the sky open and followed a voice. Not my choice, but had the feeling of inevitability. Where would it lead me? A cold finger touched my headline And dread despair Flew through my frame. Was this benevolent or malevolent? I could not name. Not all men are the same. Some ambitious, some capricious in nature. But all seek fame. Why I ask? All men are equal, but to what their task?

Fears

My speech is ripped, Not given, but taken. But I shake each time I do it. Indeed, I don’t preach; I would be a charlatan and lesser man. There comes a point when rhyme and reason don’t mix. Fix it in your head, for on the morrow there comes dread. The most dangerous are they who have nothing to lose, Abuse at your will, But they can kill.
